A busy New York hospital is seeking a Certified Medical Coder to support accurate and compliant medical coding practices across inpatient and outpatient departments. Responsibilities: Review clinical documentation to assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes. Ensure compliance with federal regulations, payer policies, and hospital coding guidelines. Perform coding audits and quality checks to maintain data accuracy and minimize denials. Collaborate with providers, billing, and revenue cycle teams to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, reimbursement policies, and regulatory changes. Prepare reports related to coding accuracy, trends, and billing outcomes. Support internal and external audits by providing complete and accurate coding documentation. Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or related field preferred. Certification required (CPC, CCS, or CCS-P). Minimum 2 years of medical coding experience in a hospital or healthcare setting. Proficient in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding. Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and healthcare reimbursement systems. Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for provider engagement. Proficiency in EHR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
