Carnival – The Greatest Show on Earth is just eight months away and already the excitement is in the air as we have officially entered Trinidad and Tobago’s band launch season. This means carnival bands are releasing and showcasing their costume (sections) for masqueraders for Carnival 2023, which will be held on February 20th and 21st. According to data from Media InSite’s dashboard, there has been over 200 mentions of “band launch” on digital media over the period of June – July.

Because carnival is such a grand event, band owners start planning a year in advance.  Think about it like the Minister of Tourism Randall Mitchell said – “it’s like if a catwalk meets a fete.” Apart from the costume design of the planning, emphasis must be placed on sponsors and advertising. Surely you must have seen many big names at parties you have attended, like Digicel, Angostura, White Oak to name a few.  Sponsors rely heavily on media monitoring & social listening to guide them on their brand performance and lead generation to new customers.

Today, every brand is competing for attention. That means the success of sponsorships can make or break a marketing program. With big budgets on the line and ROI being scrutinized now more than ever, brands need access to timely information that tells them exactly what’s working across every game and every play.

To guide us through how sponsors are selected and the BTS of band launch season, host Kristee Kalisingh is joined by Mr. Colin Greaves, Head of Public Relations at Digicel and former General Manager of Island People Mas.
